oh dear how my mind does wonder

Sat Nov 28, 2009, 6:33 PM
You must forgive me. For it appears my mind has once again gone and changed its self. You see I have been ill and thus my sleep has been next to nil. Its odd because that made my waking hours seem to be an almost dream like state. The truly odd part is the persons who decided to appear in this strange dream. The wonderful Mr. Sherlock Holmes, Dr. John H Watson and the dastardly Professor James Moriarty. Which is really weird since I hadn't thought about the entire holmes world for quite some time. Does this matter in the slightest? Perhaps. You see I had been infected with the holmes bug before and it appears that i was prone to a reinfection. Still why am i mentioning any of this? Because of the mass ammount of fanart i have been drawing my dears. Have i let it lose upon you yet. no. but i fear my desk cannot take much more scattered holmes fanart and some may start finding its way to my scanner. you have been warned dear reader! :fear:

If you just thought "oh great! she must be so excited for that new holmes movie coming out." you are quite sadly mistaken. I have seen the previews and i did give it quite a few chances to prove me wrong. but from all the evidence i can gather i will not be seeing or rejoicing in this "new" take on one of my favorite heros. He does not even seem at all like sherlock in looks or actions. I am quite sorry but I will be sticking quite happily to my large complete book of canon sherlock. kindly keep your nasty imitation far away from my delusional bubble of awesome wit and british accents. k thx bye.

oh and thanksgiving was alright i suppose.:faint: My aunt got her self stuck in bathtub and my mother and i implicated a rescue. it was rather funny in hind-sight.:lmao: anyway may you all stay out of harms way as the year comes to its close.

I love noname! What zoo is he at? Is it rather strange that he loves to watch people, or is that normal behavior?

We have a Komodo dragon at the John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids, MI. I'll have to post some photos of him sometime.

NoName is a resident at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium. He will be 16 on the 31st.

I don't believe watching people is a strange behavior. He is a carnivore. Watching the herd for the weak or slow is something natural for him to do. What's strange is the color neon orange seems to attract his attention more then other colors, especially when something of that color moves.

I would love to see pictures of your komodo as well. :D

I see. I was probably drawing a wrong conclusion on your choice of words, "Brilliant boy. loves to watch you." I had formulated this picture in my head that NoName prefers to sit by the glass and watch the daily commotion passing by his exhibit. Kind of the same way cats will sit in a window and watch everything occurring outside.

Sadly, that wasn't the case with our Komodo. They didn't give him any "hidey-holes" for when he got stressed out from too many visitors, and so he became very withdrawn; even to trying to at least hide his head under a log to give himself the illusion that the humans couldn't see him. Poor guy. I really felt sorry for him.

Recently the zoo built an outdoor summer exhibit for him. I hope to stop by in a couple weeks and if he's still in it I'm going to take some pictures.

I uploaded a few photos of "Precious," our Komodo dragon at the John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids, MI. He's one of the first successful hatchlings from the Washington Zoo's breeding program back in the '90s, and was featured in a TV interview on a CBS morning program.

Here are the links:

I have a very nice portrait shot of Precious, but it's buried in an archive somewhere. I'll load it when I find it.
